Purpose of the Role

The Business/Data Analyst is responsible for working within the assigned business area and initiative/project to obtain and document quality business and data requirements whilst ensuring data integrity, quality & lifecycle are considered.

These initiatives are high priority change initiatives!

The successful candidate will work with both project and business partners through the project delivery lifecycle, to meet defined business and technical objectives within agreed time, cost and quality standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work cross-functionally with the Project Team.
  • Facilitate sessions to elicit, document and develop a shared understanding of business, Functional/Non-Functional and Data requirements within projects and initiatives
  • Participate in the solution design process
  • Work closely with multi-functional teams to ensure requirements are represented during development and testing
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key business members
  • Facilitate and attend workshops, daily stand ups, retrospectives and team-based release planning as the need arises
  • Ensure that all artefacts are created and maintained in line with standards as outlined
  • Support project peers in project related activities as required
  • Own issues and remove impediments to the business analysis progress and advance issues in a timely manner for resolution

Essential Qualifications

  • Business Analysis related certification from industry recognised training institution OR relevant experience as a BA

Essential Skills & Experience


Candidates must have:

  • At least 5 years' experience working as a Business Analyst/Data Analyst role with experience of data mapping /modelling and working on projects delivering outcomes within financial environments
  • Experience with data analysis: Data architecture; mapping; definition
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work to deadline
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate to senior and project peers
  • Be self-sufficient and show a willingness to learn and be part of a developing team
  • Exposure to relevant methodology and tools e.g. Process modelling tools, project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile and Scrum methodologies)

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Certification: Business Analysis accreditation or certificate
  • Languages such as SQL, Python, PySpark
  • Technologies such as Cloudera, Hadoop
